Could the M5 MacBook Pro be released in October?

Ana sayfa / News

When it comes to Apple, the waters are constantly on the rise when it comes to new products. Supply constraints for the company’s existing 14-inch M4 MacBook Pro models have fueled rumors in tech circles that a new M5 processor-powered model could be introduced later this year, perhaps even as early as October. This could be a sign of a new product launch.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, there is a significant delay in the delivery dates for M4 MacBook Pro models, especially those with customized configurations. These devices are expected to reach customers between October 23-28. In contrast, the delivery dates for the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M4 Pro and M4 Max chips are more standard, around October 15-20. This is being interpreted as a strong hint that Apple is preparing for a refresh, especially for the entry-level M4 model.

Another development that fueled the rumors was the appearance of a single MacBook Pro model in US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) filings last week. Apple typically files multiple model numbers for different sizes and chip options. The listing of a single model supports the theory that the company may only introduce the base M5-powered 14-inch MacBook Pro this year, with the more powerful M5 Pro and M5 Max models slated for early 2026.

This staggered launch strategy also raises questions about the future of the rumored OLED MacBook Pro models. If the high-end models with the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips are introduced in early 2026, the likelihood of an OLED model arriving later that year could diminish. While it’s rare for Apple to release two major MacBook Pro updates in one year, it did so with the M2 and M3 series in 2023. Therefore, all possibilities remain on the table.

It remains unclear whether Apple will unveil the new M5 MacBook Pro via a press release or at an event. The company has typically announced its next-generation M-series chips (M1, M2, M3, M4) at special events. If an October launch takes place, we could see a short, focused presentation similar to the “Scary Fast” event in 2023.
